B.S. in General Economics

Core University Requirements

All Economics and Transportation Majors are required to complete minimum semester hour requirements in the following core areas:

Beginning with the 1995-96 school year incoming students will be required to complete the following two additional requirements:
AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDIES	3	Consult the current Bulletin for specific courses that satisfy this requirement.
GLOBAL STUDIES	3	Consult the current Bulletin for specific courses that satisfy this requirement.

General Program Requirements

Economics and Transportation majors are required to complete a minimum of 124 semester hours for a baccalaureate degree consistent with the curriculum guide for the program selected. Also, a minimum grade of "C" must be earned in the following courses:

• ENGL 100: Ideas and Their Expression I (oral and written communication course)

• ENGL 101: Ideas and Their Expression II

• BUED 360: Business Communications

• MATH 111: College Algebra and Trigonometry

• MATH 112: Calculus for Non-Mathematics Majors

Economics majors concentrating in General Economics are permitted to take 27 semester hours in free electives in order to develop other areas of interest such as computer science, mathematics, or political science for preparation for graduate school or the study of law.

Departmental Requirements

Students majoring in Economics with the General Economics Option must earn a minimum of "C" in the following courses:

• ECON 200: Principles of Microeconomics

• ECON 201: Principles of Macroeconomics

• ECON 305: Elementary Statistics

• ECON 310: Advanced Statistics

• ECON 410: Intermediate Microeconomic Theory

• ECON 412: Quantitative Analysis

• ECON 415: Money and Banking

• ECON 420: Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory

• ECON 525: Economics Seminar

• BUAD 341: Intro. to Management Information Systems, or MATH 240: Intro. to the Programming of Digital Computers
