Welcome

Welcome to the
North Carolina
Agricultural and Technical
State University Department of
Electronics,
Computer
and Information Technology Web
site.
We've come a long way since
we began operation shortly after
passage of the Morrill Act of
1890. Back then we were created
as the requisite "colored"
counterpart to what is now
North Carolina
State
University
.
Our mission back then read in
part: "... to teach practical
agriculture and the mechanic
arts and such branches of
learning as relate thereto, not
excluding academically and
classical instruction."
Its interesting to note how our
enterprise has evolved over the
past hundred and six years to
now include world class schools
and colleges of technology,
engineering, business, nursing,
arts and sciences, and education
as well as agriculture; offering
bachelors, masters and Ph.D.
degrees.
This is a testament to our rich
heritage of strong leadership,
dedicated faculty and staff and
some of the brightest, most
energetic and intelligent
students in the world.
Obviously our department wasn't
around in 1890 when things got
started. But the same spirit of
excellence that "possessed" the
campus back then is evident in
our department today. We hope
these few pages can convey some
of our excitement and energy and
that you will be moved to accept
our open invitation for a visit
at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Ray J. Davis, Ph.D., Associate
Dean |
