Institutional Review Board It is the policy of North Carolina A&T State University that all research, involving human subjects, must be reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB), as required by Title 45, Part 46, of the Code of Federal Regulations, prior to commencement of the project in order to protect the rights of human subjects participating in biomedical, behavioral or other research. In order to address these concerns, the University has developed procedures for the continuing review of all research activities involving the use of human subjects, and has established an Internal Review Board (IRB) to conduct the required review. These procedures are codified in the University's Federalwide Assurance of Compliance with Department of Health and Human Service Regulations (DHHS) for the Protection of Human Research Subjects. This policy applies to all research involving human subjects and all other activities, which in whole or in part, involve human subjects if the research is:
