A&T Provost's Letter to Campus

Greetings, Aggie Faculty, Staff and Students.

In the spring 2010, the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS) will conduct the reaffirmation of accreditation on-site visit to North Carolina A&T State University. We have begun preparing for that visit by forming the SACS Steering Committee and appointing chairs to the Quality Enhancement Plan Committee as well as various subcommittees. The steering committee is co-chaired by Dr. Vincent Childress, professor in the Department of Graphic Communications Systems and Technology Studies in the School of Technology, and Dr. Lea E. Williams, the interim associate vice chancellor of academic affairs/institutional planning, assessment and research.

As you know, the regional reaffirmation is a lengthy process that engages faculty, staff and students institution-wide. The SACS Steering Committee members have been carefully selected to represent a wide range of expertise and engage all University constituents in the process. Specifically, the steering committee is expected to build consensus around the all-important Quality Enhancement Plan and to ensure an awareness of the SACS principles and core requirements campus wide.

You will hear more about SACS in the coming months. In fact, we may ask you to serve on a committee or task force as we examine how North Carolina A&T State University provides a quality education for students. Please accept when asked to serve. Your knowledge and expertise will inform what we do.
