Chancellor Hackley Appoints Welborne Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Chancellor Lloyd V. Hackley appointed Dr. Sullivan A. Welborne Jr. as the interim vice chancellor for student affairs, effective immediately. Hackley said a national search will begin for a permanent replacement within the next few weeks. |

“The Aggie family welcomes Dr. Sullivan A. Welborne Jr. back to his alma mater to lead the Division of Student Affairs,” Hackley said. “Welborne had a successful 30-year career on this campus where he positively influenced the lives of thousands of Aggies. He started working today to interact one-on-one with our most valuable treasures, our students.” Welborne served as vice chancellor for student affairs at N.C. A&T from 1990 until his retirement in 2000. He also served as acting vice chancellor, assistant vice chancellor, and assistant professor. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry for 23 years. Currently, he is teaching chemistry and will continue to teach the course. A Lexington,
N.C. native, Welborne received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Wake Forest
University, M.S. degree in chemistry from North Dakota State University,
a M.S. degree in administration from A&T and Ph.d. in education administration
from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. |
