Research

I am presently interested in conducting research in the areas of Wireless Communications Systems, RFID Tags and Real-Time Information Processing using Acousto-Optics.


Education

I received my BS in Mathematics from North Carolina A&T State University located in Greensboro, NC in December 1989. I also received a BS in Electrical Engineering also from North Carolina A&T State University in December 1990. In the Fall of 1991, I started the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering program at Virginia Tech. I received my MSEE in June 1993. On May 13,1995, I completed a Master of Science in Mathematics also from Virginia Tech. The titled of my Master of Science in Mathematics major paper was "Verification of the Solutions of The Paraxial Wave Equation for Optical Diffraction through a Rectangular Aperture in the Fresnel Region". I received my Ph.D. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University located in Blackburg, Virginia in June 1998. My Ph.D. advisor was Dr. Ting-Chung Poon. I worked in the Optical Image Processing Lab in The Bradley Department of Electrical Engineering. My Dissertation research was in the area of Optical Image Processing using an Acousto-Optic Cell in the Bragg Regime. My area of concentration in the Ph.D. program was Communication Systems (Optical and Microwave) and Signal Processing.


Family Life

Born in Burlington, North Carolina, I spent the first twenty-one years of my life in Whitsett, North Carolina. My parents, Samuel and Roxie, currently reside in Greensboro, NC. My mother graduated from Morris Brown University and my father finished from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. I have two older brothers' DeRome and Derrell and one older sister Denise. My Brothers both finished their B.S. and M.S. Degrees from North Carolina A&T State University. One finished in Mechanical Engineering while the other finished in Electrical Engineering. My Sister earned her Bachelors Degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC

Thanks to my brother Derrell and his wife, Rhonda I have two nieces, Danielle who is 8 years old and Gabrielle who is 5 years old. Also thanks to my Sister Denise and her husband, Freddy, I have a third niece named Samantha who is 3 years old. They are all extremely talented, and adventurous little ladies.
