Indvidual Counseling

The college years are an exciting, but sometimes stressful time. Many students encounter problems that are not easily resolved, or their usual ways of handling problems aren't working well for some reason. They may have found, for example, that talking to friends or relatives about their concerns is impossible or unsatisfying. Counseling is a chance to talk over what is on your mind with an objective person; a safe space to put into words the thoughts and feelings that are inside you. By participating in counseling you can learn new skills and ways of looking at situations so that you will be more capable of solving problems on your own.

Some common concerns confronting students include anxiety/stress, low self confidence, relationship difficulties, depression, self-defeating behaviors, academic problems, sexual identity concerns, and decision-making dilemmas.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling is designed to assist couples with their relationship problems, and is available for enrolled students; both partners must be current NC A&T students. This service is offered to help address a variety of issues including communication skills, conflict resolution/problem solving, and other issues that may arise within a relationship. Our therapists are available to provide couples counseling to students, regardless of marital status or sexual/affectional orientation, in a condifential and affirming environment.
