Career Counseling & Assessment

The counseling process begins with an initial interview with a counselor to discuss your current situation and background. Career decisions are based on factors such as interests, work-related values, personality, and abilities. Therefore, interest, ability, and personality assessments ares tools which may be used to answer your particular questions and facilitate the decision making process.

Assessment Interpretation

After the assessments are completed, you will meet again with your counselor to review the results and their implications for your career choice.

Career testing often helps you in the process of deciding on a major or career, but it does not provide absolute answers. Your counselor will help you identify the most appropriate assessment strategies for your situation. You may also be directed to other informative resources such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook.

Other departments on campus such as the Office of Career Services also are available to assist students with career concerns.
