IT&T's Organizational Structure

The Information Technology and Telecommunication division is divided into Administrative Information Systems, Client Services, Research Computing, Systems and Networking, Teaching and Learning Systems, Telecommunications and Web Support Services.


Directorate of Administrative Information Systems (AIS)

Administrative Information Systems (AIS) is responsible for central administrative computing and related information management activities for the University. AIS develops, maintains, and/or provides technical support for the campus financial, human resources, and student records systems as well as appropriate computing for other administrative functions in academic and administrative units.

It supports the University's mission of instruction, research, and public service by implementing, enhancing, and supporting administrative systems.  AIS' focus is easy access to secure, reliable, and timely data.  AIS is committed to retaining quality staff, investigating new technologies, and partnering with others to provide technical leadership and effective solutions.


Directorate of Client Services

The Client Services Directorate (DCS) is responsible for determining standards for computer hardware, software, and related equipment; it ensures that such equipment is appropriate for the University's computing environment. Furthermore, DCS provides assistance in information delivery, problem management, and technical troubleshooting for recommended hardware and supported software packages for the university and is responsible for managing and supporting institutional classroom and public access computing labs. Additionally, Client Services Directorate consults distributed IT professionals on campus regarding setting up and administering local area networks in their respective departments.


Directorate of Systems and Networking

The Directorate of Systems and Networking is responsible for the day-to-day management of the academic computers and software systems. This includes monitoring and ensuring that the equipment is fully functional.

Additionally, Systems and Networking will support the education and research goals of the University by promoting and providing effective and reliable data, video, and voice connectivity for students, faculty and staff.


Directorate of Research Computing

The Directorate of Research Computing will support research programs at North Carolina A&T State University by providing client-centered, high quality, cost effective.

Technical and practical assistance in the selection, acquisition, installation, and maintenance of information technology software and hardware appropriate to research goals.

Consultation with researchers on technological components of research grant proposals. Guidance and practical assistance regarding routine
backup and archiving of project data.


Teaching and Learning Systems

Teaching and Learning Systems addresses faculty, staff, and student professional development and training in the area of technology proficiency. TLS Works closely with the Academy for Teaching and Learning and the Center for Distance Learning to help faculty and students effectively leverage technology in the teaching and learning enterprise.


Directorate of Telecommunications

The Directorate of Telecommunications provides voice and data network connectivity to A&T faculty, staff and students.


Directorate of Web Support Services (WSS)

Web Support Services addresses website development and communication needs of faculty, staff and students at North Carolina A&T State University by using website development and management tools to provide web-based applications.  WSS also uses these tools to share information about the many activities and facets of the University with the online community.

To remain abreast of the rapid changes in today's continually evolving Information Technology (IT) environment, WSS personnel continuously update and expand their knowledge, skills and expertise through IT conferences, on-the-job training, and forums that focus on pertinent web technologies.
