The chemical industry, in a nutshell, creates and implements methods of converting raw materials into useful products.

Chemical engineers are involved in every aspect of this industry, from fundamental research on new and better methods to the design of processes and equipment which implement these methods on a commercial scale. Consequently, the chemical engineer needs to possess a working knowledge of mathematics and the physical sciences, particularly chemistry.

If you are interested in the sciences but you don't know what specific major to pursue, chemical engineering would make an excellent choice. As a student of chemical engineering, you will receive a broad, practical education that will give you excellent preparation for a variety of career paths:
