The Chemical Engineering Department at North Carolina A&T State University began in August 1985 with the appointment of a chairman and one faculty person. The program is the second largest on the east coast from Virginia to Florida. We admitted our first freshman class in the Fall of 1985 and now have an undergraduate student body of around 150. The program was evaluated in October 1990 and became accredited by ABET/AIChE the following July. The program was re-evaluated by ABET/EAC and our accreditation was extended through 2001.
