Yusuf Adewuyi joined the department as an Associate Professor in 1994 and was awarded tenure in July of 1998. Before coming to A&T, he worked as a Senior Staff Engineer and Research Engineer for Mobil Research and Development Corporation (1988-1993) and help post-doctoral research positions with the Institute for Environmental Studies at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1987-1988) and the Boston College Department of Chemistry (1985-1986).

 He earned the department's Teacher of the Year Award for the 1993-94 and 1996-97 academic years, and was named the University's Outstanding Chemical Engineering Teacher in 1993.
