Note: If your session times out and you did not finish your transaction, your transaction will be incomplete.

In Banner, if you are in process of updating a record, for example, you made an update but did not hit the Save button or close the Form, you retain a record lock in Oracle on that record. Your Oracle session will shoe Inactive, however, no other users will be able to update that record until you have either saved the change or closed the screen.
JInitiator is an add-on program that must be installed to use Internet Native Banner ( INB). It is not required for use with Self Service Banner.
The mostly likely reason for this is that the Oracle J-Initiator (java) has not been installed onto your computer. If you have never installed Banner before , you will need to complete this installation before you can login the first time. It should automatically pop up to be installed. Once the J-Initiator has been installed, you should be able to access Banner with your userid and password.
If you encounter a blank screen while installing JInitiator, contact the Help Desk and request they install JInitiator on your desktop and give you "Administrator" rights to your machine. This is generally encountered by new employees who ahve been setup on that machine. If it is a transferred workstation, it needs to be reimaged priorto reassigning the administrative rights which will avoid a host of issues for the client and the workstation.
Different versions of JInitiator may be required to run different applications. Internet Native Banner 7 requires JInitiator 1.3.1.18.
No. You can have multiple versions of JInitiator installed on your computer at one time without experiencing any problems.
JInitiator version 1.3.1.18 is required for Banner 7.
Banner, like many other Web based applications, requires popups to be allowed. If you are experiencing problems opening screens, make sure that all popups are turned off.
Your Internet Explorer might have the Google Toolbar or Yahoo Toolbar, and perhaps others turned on. It is best to turn these off. To do this, just right click the toolbar area above the webpage and uncheck the toolbars to deactivate them.
If you wish to use those toolbars for other functions, you will have to turn off the popup blocker feature. The instructions vary for each one, but generally a popup blocker icon can be clicked to turn popups on or off.
With Google Toolbar, you will see an icon with little windows and a circle strikebar on it. Push this button to allow popups.
Internet Explorer has its own popup blocker. You need to turn it off as well. To do this Go to Tools-->Popup Blocker--> Turn Off to render it Internet Explorer friendly.
