The objectives of internal auditing are to promote managerial and operational
efficiency via the audit process; and provide value added services by advising and
assisting members of the university in the effective discharge of their responsibilities.
The objectives of this office are to:

Review internal accounting controls to determine the plan of organization
and all methods and procedures concerned with, and directly related to the safeguarding of
assets and the reliability of financial records and file appropriate reports regarding the
same.

Review administrative controls to determine the plan of organization and
all methods and procedures concerned with operational efficiency and adherence to
managerial policies. Such controls usually relate only indirectly to the financial
records; appropriate reports will be filed regarding the same.

Make recommendations designed to alleviate noted weaknesses in internal
controls.

Conduct audits of financial records to determine that public and private
funds have been accounted for properly and established accounting policies and procedures
are being observed.

Review financial statements and make recommendations, where appropriate.

Assist state auditors in their examination of the financial
statements/records.

Conduct special inquiries/audits at managements direction.

Apply current accounting techniques in the discharge of duties; remaining
current requires maintaining certification and participation in on-going professional
development activities.
