ATL Programs and Projects ATL Workshops (Throughout the Year) ATL workshops are held throughout the semester and focus on pedagogical innovations, assessment practices, and curricular redesigns aimed at improving student learning and success. Please consult the "Current Schedule and Workshop Registration" link to the left for up-to-date information (including event summaries) on ATL activities and to register for ATL events. All ATL activities require pre-registratio. All ATL workshops and activities are advertised via the ATL listserv. ATL Teaching Showcase - Making Student Learning Visible (March) Each spring (March) the ATL Teaching Showcase highlights student learning projects and pedagogical practices that are making a difference at NC A&T. Join your colleagues as they share teaching strategies and course activities that document and make visible student learning. ATL Summer Teaching Institute (May) The annual two-day ATL Summer Teaching Institute provides faculty members with an in-depth workshop-style introduction to a specific teaching/learning issue. Past Summer Teachiing Institutes have focused on topics such as: cooperative learning pedagogy, teaching insights from learning sciences research, effective course design, ideas for improving student learning outcomes for all students, motivating students to learn, and others. Workshop leaders have included Milt Hakel, Barbara Millis, Craig Nelson, Jean Mach, Mike Burke, and Dee Fink. New Faculty Orientation (August) The revised New Faculty Orientation takes place prior to the start of classes in the fall semester. This two-day orientation program introduces new faculty members to a variety of university-related services that help faculty members get off to a great start.
