LADY AGGIES LOOK FORWARD TO SPRING BOWLING

GREENSBORO, N.C., December 1, 2004 - After returning from a long weekend in St. Louis, Mo., the Lady Aggie Bowling team will get some rest before returning to the lanes in the spring semester.

"We have built some momentum with our play this fall," said coach Courtney Stith. "Our goal is the still the same as it was in August: to earn one of the eight bids to the NCAA Championships."

The team will welcome the return of junior Hilary Cox, who sat out this fall due to undergoing kidney transplant surgery. Cox, last season's MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Bowler and the team Bowler of the Year, has rolled a 178.25 average for her career and is one of the most experience bowlers on the team. N.C. A&T has a solid record of 48-14-1 in NCAA match play.

The Lady Aggies will return to action in the Colgate Invitational on December 27-28 in Mt. Laurel, N.J.

BOWLING TEAM COMPLETES

OUTSTANDING WEEKEND AT NORFOLK STATE

GREENSBORO, N.C., October 17, 2004 – The Lady Aggies competed in the MEAC Divisional competition in Norfolk, Va., and were victorious in all their head-to-head matches.

The Aggies competed against South Carolina State, Norfolk State, Savannah State and Bethune-Cookman.

Sophomore Jamie Brungard led the Aggies with a total of 2,103 pins over 11 games. Brungard averaged a 191.8 score over the competition. 

The Lady Aggies will travel to Marietta, Ga., to compete in the Brunswick Southern Classic on Nov. 6-7.  

N.C. A&T Perfect in First Meet of the Season

Greensboro, N.C. - September 26, 2004 - N.C. A&T got impressive individual performances from all six bowlers and rolled to a 4-0 dual meet record at the MEAC Southern Invitational I at Gate City Lanes.

The team earned victories in Baker competition over Norfolk State, Florida A&M, South Carolina State and Savannah State. The team bowled an average of 167.85.

Jamie Brungard led the Lady Aggies with 2,177 total pins in 12 games for an average of 181.42 for the tournament.

The Lady Aggies will meet these teams next week in the Southern Divisional Invitational II, which will be hosted by Florida A&M on Oct. 1 and 2 in Tallahassee, Fla

Lady Aggie Bowling Team Anticipating New Season

(Greensboro, NC) - 9/6/04 - The N.C. A&T bowling team is less than three weeks away from its season opening tournament, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Invitational.

The tournament, which features all six teams from the Southern Division of the 11-school conference, will be held Sept. 25-26 at Gate City Lanes in Greensboro.

All six Lady Aggie bowlers from the 2003-04 MEAC Championship team return for a chance at a fourth consecutive title.

Leading the way for the Lady Aggies will be head coach Courtney Stith, who begins her first season at her alma mater. Stith won three MEAC titles as a member of the bowling team and will be coaching two teammates, seniors Amanda Richardson, who has three MEAC Championship rings, and Michelle Hanna, who has a pair of titles.

Junior Hilary Cox, who was the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2003 MEAC Tournament, and fellow All-Tournament selection Jamie Brungard are also back. Brungard, a sophomore, finished second only to Cox at the tournament in total pins and average.

Sophomore Danielle Hanna and junior Krystian Jones complete the team, which expects to face challenges from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, which participated in the inaugural NCAA Bowling Championships following their runner-up finish to the Lady Aggies last season.

Joining the team is Leteshia Cross, a senior from Greensboro who impressed Stith enough that she was able to join the team as a walk-on.

The Lady Aggies are scheduled to compete in four meets prior to the MEAC Championships, which are set for Nov. 12-13 in Laurel, Md. Afterward, the team will compete in the National Team Match Games in St. Louis, Mo. (Nov. 26-27).

The team will continue its participation in the Colgate Invitational and Keystone Classic, which are held in Stratford, N.J. and Allentown, Pa., respectively, from Dec. 27-30.

N.C. A&T will travel to Southern University and Jackson State University of the Southwestern Athletic Conference before concluding its season in the Bayside Classic on Feb. 26-27 in Baltimore.

The team goal for this season is to be chosen to participate in the NCAA Championships, which will be held on April 20-24.

Lady Aggies Fare Well in NCAA Northeast Challenge

(Elmwood Park, NJ) - 3/7/04 - N.C. A&T won five of 10 matches against four teams in the NCAA Northeast Challenge, which was hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University. The Lady Aggies finished in third place among six schools, all ranked in the top 30 of the Collegiate Bowling.com Poll.

N.C. A&T finished with 7,558 pins, fifth best among the six schools, but took down Fairleigh Dickinson's "II" team, Nebraska, and New Jersey City University in Triple Baker action.

The Lady Aggies finished 2-3 in traditional play, defeating NJCU and FDU "II" to complete play.

Hilary Cox bowled a high game of 246 against Nebraska en route leading the team with a 208.4 average. She also added a 218 and a 215 during the weekend.

Michelle Hanna chipped in with a 205 average in the 10 dual meet matches. She bowled three games of 200 or better during the Challenge, including a 244 against the host school's second team.  

Lady Aggies Win Third Consecutive MEAC Championship

(Dover, DE) - 11/8/03 -  N.C. A&T picked up its third straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Bowling title in Dover, Del. over the weekend with 10,479 pins.

Sophomore Hilary Cox was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Bowler, with an individual average of 217.70 pins. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by freshman Jamie Brungard (206.5 average).

Head coach Jimmy Mack was named the tournament's most outstanding coach. The Lady Aggies have won four of the five MEAC Championships since women's bowling became a championship sport in the conference in 1999.
