College of Arts & Science Liberal Studies Department
 What is Liberal Studies?
The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies is an interdisciplinary degree designed to prepare students for employment, civic participation, and life-long learning in our complex global environment.  Students must complete 124 semester hours that include 24 hours in a Concentration and 6 hours of Related Electives.  They also must earn at least a “C” in all concentration courses, related electives, ENGL 100 (or UNST 110), ENGL 101, HIST 100, and HIST 101.

The Liberal Studies program offers concentrations in African-American Studies; Business; Cultural Change and Social Development; Dance; International Studies; Race, Class, and Culture; Women's Studies; Pre-Law; and a customized Interdisciplinary Studies concentration.  The customized concentration allows students to design programs to meet their educational and career goals, and often is chosen by students returning to college after a break for family, career, or other pursuits.
