- Planning public relations campaigns by researching media sources via the World Wide Web and other sources
- Consulting with faculty members on cross-platform software issues
- Designing brochures and other publications using WordPerfect 6.0, Microsoft Word 6.0 and Pagemaker 6.0
- Editing scientific and technical documents for publication in professional journals
- Training university and county extension faculty in communication and communication technology skills
- Developing and maintaining a World Wide Web presence for the school using the latest software tools
- Installing and maintaining text and graphic files on a Unix server for World Wide Web availability
- Using FileMaker Pro 3.0 to maintain a mailing list for publication distribution
- Assisting faculty members with reports and research proposals
Mitch has been a technical editor and information specialist for six years, and a teacher for three years before that. He has worked predominantly in university and research environments, in such capacities as teaching/training, information systems development, public relations and promotion, and technical writing and editing. He has successfully held the positions of teacher, coach, technical writer, webmaster, news editor and information specialist.
As the News Editor/Information Specialist, his primary responsibilities include the following:
