Silent Chatter

I saw you this morning,
You said hello and smiled at me with your eyes.
You do this every morning,
But you never say a word.

Yeah I checked you out, looking over your shoulder with that talking glance that you do.
I greeted you back with a friendly gaze.
You catch me staring; asking, "what is your fine self doing from now until the next life time.
But I never say a word.

I avoid eye contact to terminate all means of communication
...You know, playing it off.
Besides I don't want you to think I find you attractive or something,
even though your eyes hear a different story.

But is that what I want?
I wonder who you are and what's your angle.
I want to match a voice with this silent chatter.

I know your thinking the same thing.
You're not the only one using their peripheral vision to scan and lock on someone coordinates.
I know your mind triggers thoughts of me, because your not paying attention to your friends
...when they're conversing with you.

What it boils down to is which one of us is going to risk embarrassment.
Thinking...what if we're not on the same page.
Not knowing whether we should play this out or tell each other how we truly feel,
We never say a word.

I find myself wanting to be where you're at,
When you're not in my field of vision.
Settle glances just won't suffice anymore.

Today's the day,
I'm ready to hear your voice for the first time.
Something I've been looking forward to hearing.
Nothing to lose, I have no fear

...unless you talk too much.
