OVERVIEW

 

The National Constitution sets minimum scholarship requirements for membership eligibility. Individual Chapters may establish requirements above this minimum level. The constitution states that only those ranked in the upper one-fifth of the junior class or the upper one-third of the senior class can be considered for membership (NCA&T requires a GPA of 3.0 or above to qualify). Graduate achievement may, upon nomination by the department head, be considered for membership. Alpha Pi Mu encourages this high caliber of performance to help ensure for success in your profession. This society hopes to play a role in stimulating such performance early in your college career, and then to provide a common ground during active membership for you and other industrial engineering leaders to exchange ideas and to encourage mutual growth. It hopes also to improve the profession by providing experience which will prove useful to you during your professional career. It is sincerely hoped that you will strive for top performance, and that you will become eligible upon reaching upper-class status! Undergraduate Student Membership

 

Requirements for undergraduate student membership are as follows:

-- junior or seniorstanding

-- GPA 3.0 or above

-- leadership skills

 

Applicaiton Process

-- Prospective students will receive an invitation letter from the president of Alpha Pi Mu.



Graduate Student Membership

 

Requirements for graduate student membership are as follows:

-- successful completion of at least 10 credit hours IE graduate course work

-- GPA 3.5 or above

-- leadership skills

 

Applicaiton Process

-- Prospective students will receive an invitation letter from the president of Alpha Pi Mu.



Faculty Membership

 

Requirements for faculty membership are as follows:

(1) The candidate shall hold rank above instructor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC A&T.
(2) The candidate shall have at least three years of full-time teaching and/or research experience as a faculty member in the Industrial Engineering Department at NCA&T.
(3) The candidate shall be clearly identified with the Industrial Engineering courses and research of his/her department.



Alumni Membership

 

Requirements for alumni membership are as follows:

a. Any graduate Industrial Engineer from NCA&T, who during his/her scholastic career fulfilled the requirements for membership, may be eligible for alumni membership providing he/she received his/her degree during a period when the school was accredited by the ABET or other appropriate accrediting agency.
b. Any active member, upon completion of his/her studies with the Industrial Engineering Department in which he/she was initiated, shall become an alumni member.
c. A member having received a degree at one institution and pursuing an advanced degree at NCA&T may apply to the Alpha Pi Mu Association chapter at NCA&T to have his/her alumni membership reverted to active membership, pursuant to that chapter’s by-laws if so desired.
d. Prospective alumni members shall be formally initiated according to the prescribed ritual by NCA&T chapter.
