Q. What are the minimum admission requirements for freshmen?

4 Units of English
4 Units of Mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and an advanced Mathematics course)
2 Units of Social Studies (United States History is required)
3 Units of Science (a biological science, a physical science and a science with a laboratory are required)
2 Units of the same foreign language
4 Elective units

Q. What is the grade point average and Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT)/American College Test (ACT) requirement for admissions?

Each application for admissions is considered individually with the expectation that students have a satisfactory grade point average and new SAT/ACT score. Because of the mandated University of North Carolina System 18% cap on out-of-state freshmen students, academic achievement and new SAT/ACT scores must be competitive. The University and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Office apply the criteria for admissions flexibly to assure that students with unusual qualifications are not rejected in the admissions process. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions should be contacted directly in regard to specific situations.

Q. What are the admission requirements for transfer students?

A transfer student who has attended another accredited college, but has earned less than twenty-four (24) semester hours of acceptable credit or the equivalent is required to submit the following: an official High School Transcript and new SAT/ACT scores. This student must meet Minimum Admissions Requirements (MARS). A transfer student who does not meet MARS and is under the age of 24 prior to the date the semester begins must complete the following courses with a "C" or better in each course and an overall final cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale:

A transfer student who is 24 years of age or older prior to the date that the semester begins and has at least twenty-four (24) hours of transferable credit, an overall final cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale from the last institution attended is exempt from the above requirements.

Q. What is the student/teacher ratio?

The student/teacher ratio is about 17 to 1.

Q. How do I receive Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB) credit?

Contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission about AP/IB credit information. Students must take the College Board AP/IB test prior to their summer new student orientation and have the official scores send to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to ensure proper placement. You must score a 3 or better on the AP test and a 5 or better on the IB test to receive college credit.

Q. What is the male/female ratio?

It is about 48% male, 52% female.

Q. What percentage of your students comes from out-of-state?

As a member of the University of North Carolina System, we are mandated not to exceed an 18% cap on the number of out-of-state freshmen we can enroll.

Q. How large is A&T’s campus?

The campus is approximately 188 acres. We also have a 600-acre research farm located a few miles from the main campus. Coming in 2011, we will also have an 88,000 sq. ft. building for our Nanoengineering Department.

Q. How do I apply to NC A&T?

Complete the online admissions application and submit a non-refundable $45.00 application fee. The application can also be downloaded and sent along with the application fee to:

Q. How do I add my name to the mailing list?

You may complete the Get Information form to have your name added to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions mailing, email and telephone campaign lists.

Q. When are campus tours offered? How do I schedule one?

You may visit the campus for a tour Monday through Friday at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please visit our website to schedule a campus tour.

Q. What are the application deadlines?

Deadline for all Fall semester applications is February 15th and the deadline for the Spring semester is November 1st.

Q. What majors do you offer?

We offer 118 bachelor’s degrees, 60 master’s degrees, and 9 doctoral degrees. A list of our majors is available in our Fact Book.

All new incoming students are required to attend the New Student Orientation.

Q. What if I received my GED?

If a student has received a GED, he/she must complete the following courses at another university or community college:
