In the fall of '95 I co-oped with Bell Northern
Research (part of Nortel) in
Research Triangle Park, NC. My group worked on part of the
largest object-oriented programming project in the world. The
project's goal was to rewrite the 26 million lines
of code that runs the phone switches made by Nortel. My project
was to bring our group's code generator tool up to coding
standards and do some debugging. The code generator automates
object creation for many groups at Nortel in the US, Canada, England
and Turkey.
In my senior I was part of a research group
studying intelligent software agents (programs
that learn about their users and perform actions on their behalf)
and java. I have also done an internship and worked part-time at SAS, Institute before graduating in December.
I currently work for the DMS-10 division of Northern
Telecom (Nortel) in RTP as a software engineer. I am designing a system
that will patch running software on the phone switch my group is
upgrading.
