Supplemental Instructions
SI is a non-remedial approach to learning enrichment that increases student performance and retention. SI offers regularly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions to all students enrolled in a targeted course. SI study sessions are informal seminars in which students review notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and prepare for examinations. Students learn how to integrate course content with reasoning and study skills. The SI sessions are facilitated by “SI leaders,” students who have previously and successfully completed the targeted course. SI leaders attend all class lectures, take notes, and act as model students for their classmates.

Cultural Activities
The arts are an integral part of education. Each semester, we plan opportunities for TRIO students to access some of the resources available to us in the Greensboro, NC Triad area.  All activities are free of charge forTRIO students and include transportation. We travel to plays, museums, performances, and other events—these opportunities are listed on the SSS academic calendar each semester.

Selected students will enroll in six hours of college credit and will continue at NCATSU in the fall of  that year. Students selected to participate will also be required to be in the TRIO SSS Living Learning Community for their freshman year.

TRiO SSS Living Learning Community

This program will provide students with supplemental instruction, one on one tutoring, transition workshops, cultural events and leadership opportunities.
