Welcome to the Office of Veteran & Disability Support Services

Welcome to the web site of the Office of Veteran and Disability Support Services (OVDSS) at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Through its existence the office has encouraged, nurtured, educated, supported, inspired and comforted many students. Services are designed for the different faces that come with the many different challenges. The staff members of the OVDSS are here to meet these challenges.

This office was officially opened in the 1960s as a Veteran Affairs office. As time went by and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was passed, the office then became known as Veterans and Handicapped Student Affairs. It kept that name until about 1993 when it became known as the Office of Veteran and Disability Support Services.

Our mission statement

OVDSS is an integral unit of the Division of Student Affairs. We guide and direct our students by providing and promoting events, services, etc. that increase their skills used to enhance intellectual, cognitive, social, personal and physical competencies. The office also works with students, faculty and staff to promote the students’ independence to ensure recognition of their abilities for total development.
