GSAC Committees

Greetings fellow graduate students. My name is Norbert Agana, your Chair of Student Advocacy (CSA) for the 2016-2017 academic year. The Chair of Student Advocacy is responsible for mediating and mitigating faculty/student interactions and concerns. The CSA receives challenges that graduate students encounter and presents these concerns with possible solutions to GSAC. The CSA also serves as the Chair of the Student Advocacy Committee. The Student Advocacy Committee represents graduate student interests to the school. Communications Committee 

My name is Zithobile (Zitty) Nxumalo, and I am a 3rd year doctoral candidate in the Department of Leadership Studies. I invite you to get social with GSAC! The Chair of Communications (COC) will serve as chief public relations officer. The COC shall be responsible for all other correspondence of the Council. The COC will maintain and update the GSAC web site, Twitter, Instagram and manage the Facebook page. The COC shall serve as Chair of the Communications Committee. The Chair of Communications shall provide a monthly report to the VPIA codifying the council’s activity for the current month with a 30 day look ahead.

Research & Award Committee 

Hi, my name is Awele Anyanhun, a 3rd year Electrical Engineering PhD student with a research focus on Satellite Communications and Model Based Systems Engineering. I am extremely honored and thrilled at the opportunity to serve the entire Graduate Student Body as the Chair of Research and Award in the Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC) for the 2016-2017 school year! 

The Chair of Research and Award will collaboratively promote, explore and implement research priorities and opportunities emerging from the Graduate Student Advisory Council and across the institution, assist faculty in developing new research programs, grow investment in research infrastructure and encourage successful interdisciplinary collaboration. The Chair of Research and Award will also play a leading role in the institution’s bi annual research and award grant. The Chair of Research and Awards shall provide a monthly report to the VPEA codifying the council’s activity for the current month with a 30 day look ahead.
