Research is a systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts or reach new conclusions.  Although there are differences in how research is conducted across disciplines, research is not restricted to STEM disciplines. It is a fundamental aspect of all disciplines.

What is undergraduate research?

According to the Council on Undergraduate Research, undergraduate research is an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline.  At North Carolina A&T State University, undergraduate research is conducted with a faculty mentor. Research courses are not considered as undergraduate research.
