Going to FAR: Federal Contracting Basics for Educational Institutions. 10:00am - 12:00pm, 410 Fort IRC Building. 

Educational institutions are increasingly looking toward federal contracting opportunities as traditional funding mechanisms dry up.  Without a firm foundation on the risks and benefits of contracting, institutions place themselves at substantial risk.  Come learn about the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the basics of federal contracting, and the best practices in negotiating and managing federal contracts. Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn about the history of the FAR
  2. Participants will understand the differences between a contract and a grant
  3. Participants will learn about key contract types and understand key FAR clauses
  4. Participants will learn about FAR clauses that are university friendly
