- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office links to searchable databases of issued U.S. patents and published patent applications.
- Google Patents enables you to search U.S. patents and published patent applications through the Google interface and download PDFs of patents.
- Esp@cenet Patent Search allows users to search for patents worldwide. The database dates back to 1836 and is hosted by the European Patent Office.
Funding Opportunities
- Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) is a federal program that awards funds for small businesses with innovative ideas. The site provides information on applying for SBIR grants and details on the program itself.
- SBIR Gateway is an independent site provides news, upcoming events, assistance, and searches related to SBIR grants. It is a free service provided by Zyn Systems, which accepts no outside funding for the Gateway.
- The N.C. A&T Office of Sponsored Programs provides researchers with assistance in finding grants and other sources of funding. It also assists with applying for those opportunities.
- The N.C. A&T Office of Research Services provides access to databases of funding sources as well as links to federal agencies that can provide funding.
Entrepreneurial Resources
- Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) provides small businesses with counseling services in the areas of business plans, marketing, finance, and other core business functions. The SBTDC works alongside the University of North Carolina system and has a strong background in working with technology focused businesses.
- The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship provides startups with counseling services in the areas of business plans, marketing, finance, and other core business functions. The center also serves as an incubation center providing office space for small businesses and startups.
- The N.C. A&T Interdisciplinary Center for Entrepreneurship & E-Business provides students, researchers, faculty, and community members with assistance in starting, running, and maintaining a small business.
- The N.C. A&T Business & Entrepreneurship Skills Training Center provides students, researchers, faculty, and community members with programs designed to educate people in the area of starting and running a business.
- The Council for Entrepreneurial Development provides information on entrepreneurship events in North Carolina. Events range from training to networking to forums on specific topics.
- The North Carolina Board of Science & Technology provides information related to small businesses, grants, and other resources for startups particularly in the technology field.
- The North Carolina Biotechnology Center serves as a hub for biotechnology development in the state. It offers resources such as funding and a program designed to help move technology from research to licensing.
