N.C. A&T in the community: Education outreach

North Carolina A&T faculty, staff and students are engaged with their communities with a variety of projects. Here is a sample of current educational outreach initiatives.

Diabetes Education Center

The School of Nursing has opened a Diabetes Education, Prevention and Management Center at the Greensboro Urban Ministry. The center is a partnership between the Greensboro Urban Ministry, Moses Cone Health Nutrition and Diabetes Management Center, and the School of Nursing.

Research Apprenticeship Program for High School Students

A four-week residential program for current or rising high school juniors and seniors designed to stimulate interest in agriscience professions, including biological engineering, biotechnology, business and economics, child development, fashion and apparel, food product development, horticulture, landscape architecture, nutrition, teaching, and veterinary science.

Summer High School Transportation Institute

A five-week program on the A&T campus targeting high performing high school juniors and seniors. The program introduces students to the Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain profession and encourages them to continue their studies at the college level. Students are introduced to all aspects of transportation; take the freshman writing course; and visit transportation sites, including a major port and transportation facilities in Washington D.C.

Cooperative Extension

Our statewide program delivers educational programs and technology to enrich the lives, the land, and the economy of North Carolina’s limited-resource individuals, families and communities.

Professional development, continuing education
and summer programs

A&T offers degree and non-degree programs for our traditional students, visiting students from other universities, working professionals, and members of the community.
