Candidates For Graduation

 A candidate for a degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University must satisfy the following minimum requirements:

  1. Choose a specific curriculum leading to a degree in one of the schools/colleges and complete the requirements of this curriculum;
  2. Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours excluding deficiency courses and remedial work for the Bachelor's degree;
  3. Complete the core requirements of the University in English, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Science, Humanities and Health or Physical Education;
  4. Earn an average of two (2) grade points for every semester hour undertaken including hours passed or failed;
  5. Complete a minimum of three semesters as a full-time student in residence at the University;
  6. Clear all academic conditions by the end of the semester preceding graduation;
  7. Pay all University bills and fees;
  8. File an application for graduation with the Office of the Registrar in accordance with the schedule below:

May Graduation - by the last day posted in the spring semester calendar

Summer Graduation - by the end of the second week of class in the summer sessions (1 & 2)

December Graduation - by the last day reported in the fall semester calendar

Graduating with Honors (students admitted prior to fall 2012)

All (including repeated courses) semester hours attempted and quality points earned are used to compute the Honors overall grade point average. Honor Students are determined based on the most current overall GPAs.  Undergraduate candidates who have completed all requirements for their degree, have a least a 3.00 GPA (including repeated courses) and who have earned a minimum of 60 percent of their credit hours at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University receive the following honors:

Cum Laude - cumulative grade point average of a 3.00 to 3.24

Magna Cum Laude - cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 to 3.49

Summa Cum Laude - cumulative grade point average of a 3.50 to 4.00

Graduating with Honors (students admitted fall 2012)

All (including repeated courses) semester hours attempted and quality points earned are used to compute the Honors overall grade point average. Honor Students are determined based on the most current overall GPAs.  Undergraduate candidates who have completed all requirements for their degree, have a least a 3.25 GPA (including repeated courses) and who have earned a minimum of 60 percent of their credit hours at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University receive the following honors:

Cum Laude - cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 to 3.49

Magna Cum Laude - cumulative grade point average of a 3.50 to 3.74

Summa Cum Laude - cumulative grade point average of a 3.75 to 4.00
