The provost is the chief academic officer of North Carolina A&T, which means he oversees all academic programs — undergraduate, graduate, distance learning and continuing education. The provost leads the Division of Academic Affairs and plays a critical role in strategic planning — working with the chancellor and other senior administrative officers to ensure the ongoing success of this historic institution and our students.
Meet the Provost
Interim Provost Dr. Winser E. Alexander is an A&T alumnus with an impressive career as a professor and scholar of electrical and computer engineering. In 2000, he won the Educator of the Year Award from the National Society of Black Engineers, and in 1998 he won the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring from the White House and the National Science Foundation. Provost Alexander was department chair of Electrical Engineering at A&T from 1976 to 1982 and recently served as the interim Dean of the College of Engineering .
