With every challenge life brings, Chukwuemeka V. Anazia always strives for excellence.

In middle school, he battled a deadly disease that caused him to suffer a massive stroke and slip into a coma. He eventually woke from the coma, but struggled through memory difficulties as his brain healed.

The long road to recovery wasn’t easy, but he was determined to stay the course.

“I overcame the sickness because of my faith, positive attitude, determination and support from family and friends,” he said.

Now armed with a bachelor of science in industrial supply chain management, the recent North Carolina A&T graduate has his sights set on entering the corporate world and goals to ultimately start his own business.

“I understand that my current purpose is to gain as much knowledge as I can,” Anazia said. “I am of Nigerian decent and my name Chukwuemeka means “God has done good things.” I live by that philosophy.”

Anazia began his academic career at A&T as a business management major, but changed his major during his sophomore year after attending a Supply Chain Management Day event.

“It is truly the umbrella of business,” he said. “Businesses cannot survive without supply chain management. I truly believe that obtaining a degree in supply chain management has prepared me to be able to tackle any business task.”

He hopes to one day use his experience to help others through a business of his own.

“I believe that one should do something in life that helps others before themselves,” he said. “I love helping people and know there is a market for servicing senior citizens.”

Anazia, 22, was born in Battle Creek, Mich., but raised in Gahanna, Ohio. His family currently lives in Topeka, Kan. He is not only inspired by his faith, but also by his parents and others who are eager to succeed.

“There are a lot of people who inspire me,” he said. “Anyone who strives for his or her dreams, is a person of excellence, and/or is a person of integrity inspires me.”

While at A&T, Anazia has held several leadership positions including Junior Class President, president of the American Marketing Association and vice president of Alpha Lambda Delta, which helped him to increase his organizational leadership and interpersonal skills. He also worked as a mentor and a tutor on campus, participated in a co-op with a Fortune 500 company, studied abroad in Singapore and Malaysia and produced his own film.

“Overall, all of my accomplishments at A&T have taught me that, in life, we need each other and life is about teamwork and working together to achieve greatness,” he said.

Anazia is grateful for the opportunities that he has had to live in different places and experience an array of things, he said. He enjoys meeting others and continuing to be steadfast in accomplishing his goals.

“I am giving every obstacle in my life my all and pushing for success,” he said. “In doing so, I will change the world for the better.”
