A&T Junior Receives Landmark Scholarship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina A&T junior mass communications major, Tarah Holland was the 2002 recipient of the Landmark Minority Journalism Scholarship. The award includes $10,000 in scholarship money, two paid summer internships and a job for at least a year after her graduation from A&T in May of 2004.

Last May, Holland, 20, began her internship at The Roanoke Times in Roanoke, Va. While in Roanoke she worked as a general assignment reporter for the county team, which covers Roanoke’s neighboring communities.Tarah Holland


Holland, a native of Rocky Mount, Va., is the news and opinion editor of The Register, A&T’s student newspaper, and she is also a member of the Aggie Ambassadors, Media Network and the Virginia Aggies. She has received various awards from the Speech and Communication Department including Outstanding Freshman Journalist and Most Promising Student among print journalism majors. Holland will return to Roanoke this summer.

Landmark Communications is a Norfolk, Va., based company that owns media outlets such as Greensboro’s News and Record and the Weather Channel.
