A&T to Offer Master of School Administration Degree Program

GREENSBORO - North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s School of Education will offer the Master of School Administration (MSA) Degree Program Fall 2003.

The program is designed to prepare individuals to lead schools and other organizations in a diverse and technological society. Persons completing the program will be eligible for licensure from the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction and may qualify for administration certification in other states.

“Our Master of School Administration Program provides the opportunity for our School of Education (SOE) to “raise the bar” in teaching and learning,” said Dr. Lelia Vickers, Dean

of the School of Education.

“In essence, the SOE prepares the essential staff for the schools – teachers, counselors, principals- through programs that are established upon (1) institutional, state and national standards, (2) national accreditation, and (3) successful completion of licensure tests by candidates (100% passing). Our candidates will model and reflect the rigorous programs from which they graduate.

Graduates of the program will work in administrative positions at the School building level, and/or assume positions with local state and national organizations that focus on educational issues in curriculum, research professional development or policy making.
All students enrolled in the MSA program must successfully complete 42 hours of study including 30 hours in the major and 12 hours in a field based internship and internship seminar.
