A&T Student Attends Columbia Univerisity Editor's Workshop

GREENSBORO - Chris Wallace, a senior journalism and mass communication major at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, was recently selected as one of 20 college editors nationally to attend the annual College Editors Leadership Workshop held in New York City from May 26-30.

The workshop, sponsored by Columbia University and its graduate school of journalism, featured editors and speakers from various media venues and visits to some media venues, including Court TV, Bloomberg News, Time Magazine and the Wall-Street Journal.

Wallace, who will graduate in Dec. 2003 with a degree in journalism and mass communication, was able to garner valuable experience from the professional editors, including Betsy Wade, the first woman hired as a copy editor of the New York Times and Michael Hiestand, a staff attorney at the Student Press Law Center. Each newspaper editor had its paper critiqued in a hard-nosed critique session, and The Register, A&T student newspaper, received good reviews.
