North
Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's Office of
International Programs will host the Annual Conference of the North
Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) 9 a.m. – 4
p.m. Friday, March 7.
The
keynote speaker for the luncheon will be N.C. A&T Chancellor James
C. Renick.
Conference topics will cover
a variety of issues including SEVIS; F-1 visa regulations; study
abroad; and the role of international educators in promoting cultural
understanding.
On Thursday, March 6, there
will be a pre-conference workshop entitled "DSO 101"
designed for those new to the field of immigration advising or as a
refresher course for the more experienced professional.
It will also provide “how to” details on the evolving role
and responsibilities of the (DSO) Designated School Officer as
required by new Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS)
regulations being implemented as a result of the events of September
11, 2001.
Registration fees
are: Friday’s
Conference, including luncheon $55.00 ($65.00 after February 28);
pre-conference workshop $25.00 ($27.50 after February 28); fee to
attend both the pre-conference workshop and conference $80.00 (must
register by February 28). Community
volunteers and students may attend the conference at half price.

NCAIE is a professional
organization of over 600 educators and community volunteers, committed
to furthering the cause of international education in our state.
The
Office of International Programs provides
resources for students, faculty and staff to increase their level of
international awareness and understanding through study abroad,
student and faculty exchange, global perspectives enrichment programs
and will administer the new Global Studies Certificate Program.
