![]() Dr. Franklin McCain, chair of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Board of Trustees will appear on the A&T Today Radio Edition, WNAA 90.1 FM, Friday, July 3, with talk show host Dr. Mable Springfield Scott. Dr. McCain, who recently accepted a position on the University of North Carolina, Board of Governors, was instrumental in the selection process of A&T's 12th chancellor, Dr. Harold L. Martin, Sr. During the interview, he will discuss his support of Dr. Martin and the new direction the university will take under his leadership. He also spoke at the Welcome Celebration, June 23 on the steps of the historic Dudley building in support of Chancellor Martin and the road ahead. As one of the A&T Four, Dr. McCain gained public attention in 1960 when he and three other freshmen (Jibreel Khazan (Ezell Blair Jr.), Joseph McNeil and the late David Richmond) staged a sit-in at the segregated lunch counter at F. W. Woolworth located in downtown Greensboro. Their courageous act against social injustice inspired similar progress across the nation and is remembered as a defining moment in the struggle in the Civil Rights Movement.
