Two Dudley Senior High School students who participated in the North Carolina A&T State University's Department of Chemistry research program, received first place in the high school division for poster presentations at the 66th Annual Joint Conference of Beta Kappa Chi, the National Institute of Science held recently in Norfolk, Va.

Teal Russell and Jessica Diggs' research involved an analysis of the fatty acids found in the food-borne bacterial pathogen, Campylobacter coli. Both students participated in the Science Technology Enrichment Program (STEP) at N.C. A&T last summer, in the department of chemistry. The goals of the program are to nurture students’ interest in science and to educate them on the opportunities in scientific research and careers in the sciences.
