![]() North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University department of journalism and mass communications will sponsor its 7th annual Richard E. Moore Memorial Lecture Series 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Memorial Union-Stallings Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the lecture series will be Courier-Journal editorial columnists Betty Bayé. Her topic will be "An Industry and Nation in Transition: How do we Manage?" Bayé has been a Courier-Journal editorial columnist since 1991 based in Louisville, Kentucky. When she first began at the Courier-Journal in 1984 she was a general reporter and worked her way up to assistant neighborhoods editor and then to assistant editor. Before making the move to Kentucky, Bayé reported on housing and urban affairs for The Daily Argus in Mt. Vernon New York. She published her first book "The Africans" in 1983. In 2000, "Blackbird" a collection of her newspaper columns and original essays was published by August Press. She has been published in Essence magazine; Main Man magazine; BlackAmericaWeb.com, and has been featured as a panelist on The Reporters Roundtable segment of "The Tavis Smiley Show" on National Public Radio. The Richard E. Moore Memorial Lecture Series is named in honor of the late Dr. Richard E. Moore. Moore was a renowned journalist, educator and spokesman for N.C. A&T. He served at the helm of A&T’s Public Relations Office for more than 28 years. He was an associate professor in the department of journalism and mass communication and the organizer of the University's Mass Communication Conferences held for many years for journalism and mass communication students across the country. | |||||||
