Students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's campus newspaper, The A&T Register, traveled to Durham, N.C., to attend the Black College Communication Association (BCCA) 11th Annual National HBCU Student News Media Conference. The conference was held February 12-14, at the Durham Civic Center and hosted by North Carolina Central University. Students participated in career work sessions and a career fair hosted by the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE). Students of the A&T Register took with them copies of their work for the newspaper that was used to compete with about 200 other students from more than 20 other HBCU’s. The Register staff was successful in bringing back nine awards to add to their collection. The conference ended Saturday with the awards banquet for the Excellence in Journalism Contest.
