ICEEB ANNOUNCES THE 2008 MELVIN “SKIP” ALSTON STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR

Evan Chisholm, management major in the School of Business and Economics, is the recipient of the 2008 Melvin "Skip" Alston Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Evan is President and CEO of "FamCo Clothing LLC" which he started while attending the university as a full-time student. FamCo is an urban apparel company that currently produces and sells t-shirts and hoodies. The 1st runner-up was Kentrell Perry, President of Kentrell's Way, a nonprofit organization, and the 2nd runner-up was Jonathan Hoxter, president and CEO of Harambee Publishing.

The Melvin "Skip" Alston Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award is a program of the Interdisciplinary Center for Entrepreneurship and E-Business (ICEEB). The purpose of the award, which is sponsored by Commissioner Melvin "Skip" Alston, president of the Alston Realty Group, is to recognize the achievements of outstanding student entrepreneurs at North Carolina A&T State University. The judges were Michael Woods, president & CEO, Ashtae Products., Mr. Jim Buck, CPA, and Commissioner Melvin "Skip" Alston. This year's program was coordinated by Dr. Keith Jones, associate professor of marketing and entrepreneurship.

The ICEEB is a joint project of the School of Business and Economics, the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and the School of Technology. Located in the School of Business and Economics, the Center offers the Certificate in Entrepreneurship, an Entrepreneurial Internship, a Business Plan Competition, and a lecture series. The primary goals of the ICEEB are to create entrepreneurial minded students and to encourage and support entrepreneurship and e-business.
