A&T STUDENT WINS HONDA MUSIC INTERNSHIP
Kevin Greene

Kevin Greene, a member of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's marching band, is the recipient of a Honda Battle of the Bands Fox Music Experience internship. Greene, captain of N.C. A&T's Blue and Gold Marching Machine drumline, was selected along with Florida A&M student, Jean Paul. They were recognized at the Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase held in Atlanta, Ga.

The Fox Music Experience is a unique music internship/immersion program that works in conjunction with the Honda Battle of the Bands to help expose Historically Black Colleges and Universities to the broader world of music and entertainment. Greene will spend a few weeks this summer working on the Twentieth Century Fox studio lot in Los Angeles, Calif., learning film and television music production first hand.

The junior music education major (with a concentration in percussion) hails from Fayetteville, N.C. A teaching fellow, he was first introduced to music at the age of five. He took private lessons on the trumpet and piano, competed in numerous national piano competitions and was a member of the National Piano Guild for seven years. Greene has competed in Kiwani's National Talent Competition on both piano and trumpet and has performed with the UNCP symphonic band on trumpet. He switched to percussion during his sophomore year in high school, where he received the John Philip Sousa Award.

Greene’s future goals include becoming a high school band director and opening a school of arts and sciences.

A&T's marching band was among the 10 HBCUs bands participating in the 2009 Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase. Each college/university was awarded $20,000 for their music scholarship program.
