The nationally acclaimed and much talked about Dance Theatre of Harlem Dance is heading to North Carolina A&T State University, Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, 7 p.m. at Harrison Auditorium, doors open at 6 p.m. This is a Lyceum Series program and is free and open to the public. The Dance Theatre of Harlem is a leading dance institution of unparalleled global acclaim, encompassing a Classically American dance company, a leading arts education center and Dancing Through Barriers, a national and international education and community outreach program. Each component of Dance Theatre of Harlem carries a solid commitment towards enriching the lives of young people and adults around the world through the arts. Dance Theatre of Harlem has achieved unprecedented success, bringing innovative and bold new forms of artistic expression to audiences in New York City, across the country and around the world. In February 2004, it celebrated 35 years in the business and completed an extensive tour of the U.S. and United Kingdom. DTH received the largest grant ever given to any foreign company by the Dance Consortium in England. Following the UK tour, the Company made its return to Greece, prior to the opening of the 2004 summer Olympics.
