BREAK THE SILENCE, CONGO WEEK

The History Club and the Association of African Students, in association with the Multicultural Student Center would like to invite the community to support the events for Congo Week on the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Over 30 countries and 125 Universities worldwide have band together to raise awareness about the conflict in the Congo. This movement, started by N.C.A&T students, has made key student leaders representing supporters from various schools and organizations to join in solidarity and organize events on their respective campuses that will talk about the history, the tragedy and the potential of a peaceful Congo.

Since 1996, it is estimated that nearly six million people have died in the Congo due to conflict and conflict related causes. The purpose of the global Break the Silence movement is to mobilize people to participate in a global teach-in including activities such as a six-hour cell phone usage global boycott scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 12 to 6 p.m.
