![]() Andrew M. Perkins Jr., assistant vice chancellor for business and finance/facilities at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, was recently appointed by N.C. Governor Mike Easley a member of the North Carolina Teachers’ and State Employees’ Comprehensive Major Medical Plan Board of Trustees. His term will expire June 30, 2010. Perkins, originally from the Tidewater area of Hampton, Va., joined N.C. A&T in 1999 as a university engineer. Before coming to A&T, Perkins retired with the rank of Colonel from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 29 years of distinguished service. He served as director of the installation management program, Office of the Secretary of Defense; commander and district engineer, Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers; facilities construction program manager, Office of the Assistant Chief of Engineers; and commander and district engineer, San Francisco District, US Army Corps of Engineers. During his career with the Corps of Engineers, he worked with the Departments of Transportation in California and Virginia to enhance transportation and environmental needs in those states. Perkins also serves on the North Carolina Board of Transportation. Perkins received his B.S. degree in architecture from Hampton University and his M.S. degree in architecture from the University of Wisconsin. | |||||||
