Glenn C. Newell has been named associate vice chancellor for police and public safety at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Newell assumed his position August 4.

"Chief Newell is a tremendous asset to our university," said Dr. Sullivan Welborne, vice chancellor for student affairs." He has the knowledge and skills to provide outstanding leadership to our police force based on his previous position in a similar capacity in the state of New York."

A native of New York, Glenn has over 14 years of experience as a law enforcement and campus public safety professional.

Prior to coming to N.C.A&T, he served as the director of Public Safety for NYC College of Technology, where he managed and directed the operations of a 24-hour campus safety and security department with a staff of 60. He has also served as assistant director of public safety for Kingsborough Community College and a sergeant with the public safety department at Queens College.

Newell received a B.S. degree in liberal arts from New York Institute of Technology and M.A. degree from Queens College.
