![]() Dr. Chi Anyansi-Archibong, professor of international management in the school of business and economics at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University participated in the International Faculty Development Seminar (IFDS) June 20-July 7, in Japan. The seminar was organized by the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE). The seminar focused on contemporary Japanese culture and its impact on the emerging global society. Activities include lectures, interactive sessions, and field trips, including one to the University of Robotic and (Manga) Animation Studies. Dr. Anyansi-Archibong, who has traveled extensively to other countries, will share her international experiences with her students, especially those enrolled in the International Management and Global Studies seminar courses. This fall she plans to bring Japan’s contemporary culture as a comparison of the traditional era. Emphasis will be on the impact of group work and team work effectiveness. "It is important to expose my students to the cross-cultural management and the implications of cultural differences. In this case, the question and discussions will focus on why it is easier for Japanese and other Asian societies with "collective" cultural system to work better as a team than those who are culturally "individualistic" such as the United States and some other western cultures," she stated. | |||||||
