![]() Doris Mitchell has been appointed interim dean of library services for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University F. D. Bluford Library, effective July 1. Mitchell replaces Waltrene Canada, who has entered the Phased Retirement Program. "Mitchell has served the library for more than 17 years with 14 of those as associate dean," said Canada. "Her commitment to libraries is outstanding and this commitment and dedication will serve the university well as she assumes her new responsibilities." Mitchell has over 30 years of experience in academic libraries. Her previous employment included a number of progressively responsible positions at Howard University. and Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Alabama A&M University and her master’s degree in library science from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Mitchell is active in professional organizations and has presented at the state and regional level. She serves on library and publishing boards, numerous library and university-wide committees and is a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Evaluator Registry. | |||||||
