Dr. Vivian Barnette, director of counseling services and Victoria L. Dalton, staff counselor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, presented at the First National Conference focusing on Counseling Center Outreach Services. The inaugural national conference titled "Reaching In to Reach Out: The New Face of Outreach in the 21st Century" was held May 22-24, at The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

The event served as a vehicle for bringing together representatives from counseling centers across the country to both explore the opportunities and challenges facing counseling centers on college campuses and celebrate and learn from colleagues who have created innovative outreach to students. Barnette and Dalton’s presentation, one of the 15 available program sessions, focused on the importance of outreach to students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
