Dr. Ray J. Davis has been named the interim director of the Honors Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, effective July 1. Davis is currently the associate dean in N.C. A&T’s School of Technology and has served in this position since 1989. “Dr. Davis brings a wealth of administrative experiences in academia and working with high achieving students, “ said Dr. Kenneth Murray, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. In addition to his administrative position at the university, Davis has been very involved in The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. From 2003-05, he provided leadership to A&T’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi as its first chapter president. In August 2007 he was elected Southeast Region Vice President at the National Triennial Conference in Orlando, Fla. In this capacity he has the responsibility for working with over 62 Phi Kappa Phi chapters in six states which comprise his region. He also serves on the organization’s national executive board. Before coming to A&T, Davis worked in several institutions, including a stint as a middle school instructor in Norwalk , Conn. He was also an assistant professor at the State University of New York at Oswego where he taught courses in technology education and graphic arts. In addition, Davis was also department chair and associate professor at Alcorn State University where he served prior to his current position in A&T’s School of Technology at North Carolina A & T State University. Davis earned his Ph.D. and masters Degrees from The Ohio State University in Industrial Technology Education. He is also a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shores where he earned the baccalaureate in industrial arts education. . Davis will be replacing Dr. Peter Meyers, professor of history and the founding director of the Honors Program. | |||||||
